“LX .01…GO!” Calling cues such as this one is simply one of the many joys I do as an artist. For a while, I considered myself more as a member of the administration staff and less of an artist. In large part due to constantly being surrounded by true artists such as the actors, directors, and designers working to create artwork around me. However, being a Stage Manager is more than just managing the artists and endless paper work. It is being able to feel the emotions in the rehearsal space, solving problems quickly and efficiently and feeling the adrenaline through my veins while calling cues repeatedly at the precise moment it needs to happen. These moments are what make me an artist and reasons why I am 100% committed and passionate to my craft. My goal is to see lines and stage directions from a script and navigate the moving art pieces to a functional and safe space. Knowing that I helped bring to life this vision is why I call myself a Stage Manager and also an artist.
